Wood care for oak, walnut, and ash

Solid wood moves with the season. A tabletop can feel tighter in winter and slightly more open in summer. That is not a defect. Keep pieces out of direct heat and away from a vent that blows on one side only.
Dust with a dry cloth. Water left in a ring is the usual cause of a pale mark, so use a coaster and wipe spills instead of letting them air dry. Skip silicone sprays. They build a film that is hard to remove later.
Oak and ash show grain in a proud way. Scratches often sit in the grain and disappear after a light rub with a matching wax, used sparingly. Walnut is richer and shows a light scratch more, so a felt pad under a lamp is worth it.
If a finish looks tired after years of use, a furniture repair shop can refresh it. Furnivora pieces are finished for daily meals, not for a glass case, and they are meant to be used.
